Marine
DC Electrical I
This
course offers an introduction to DC
electrical systems. The course emphasizes compliance with American Boat
and
Yacht Council standards. Electrical theory is demonstrated in practical
hands-on projects in the shop. Course covers wire selection, making
proper
connections, simple marine DC system
installations,
circuit troubleshooting with
a multi-meter and understanding electrical schematics. The course also
examines
operation, proper selection, care and maintenance of a DC battery bank.
This
class will meet August 20 - October 17 and will be held Monday and
Wednesday
nights from 6:00 - 9:30 pm in the NCMARTEC Building.

this course is $61.30.

Marine
DC Electrical II
This
course continues the study of onboard
DC electrical systems. The course covers more advanced aspects of DC
electrical
systems, electromagnetic theory, including starters, alternators and
solenoids.
Galvanic corrosion, DC charging systems and bonding are also covered.
Students
will also design
and
build more advanced circuits and
diagram existing onboard systems. This class will meet October 29 -
December 19
and will be held Monday and Wednesday nights from 6:00 - 9:30 pm in the
NCMARTEC
Building.
The cost for this course is

AC electrical theory, safety, schematics, and
installation to ABYC standards. Covers over-current protection, ground
fault
circuits, shore power installation, generators, inverters and galvanic
isolators.

Description: This course covers
operation,
installation and maintenance of raw water systems; fresh water systems;
black
water systems, correct marine sealant selection, through hull
installation, sea
cock operation and installation, plumbing component installation, and
government mandated overboard discharge regulations.
