Closed Molding Infusion Two Day Boot Camp - You have read about it in Professional BoatBuilder magazine and all the trade publications. This is a national seminar that has been brought right into the heart of boat building country. Come to NC MARTEC and see it live! Many experts think that infusion will be the primary method utilized to manufacture composite fiberglass boats in the near future. You will see live demonstrations of boats built using this exciting technology. Interact with infusion experts Andre Cocquyt of GRPguru and Tom Hannah of Composites One. There will also be technical reps from the major infusion suppliers: Alcan Baltek (cores), Cook Composites and Polymers (resins), Owens Corning (fiberglass fabrics), and AIRTECH (infusion materials). $10.00 registration fee includes lunch both days, dinner provided first day.

Composite Fiberglass Repair - This course covers the fundamentals of working with composite fiberglass resins, fabrics, and adhesives. Safety in working with composite materials is the foundation of this course. Students will learn to plan and execute structural and cosmetic fiberglass repairs. The methods taught are used in both the boat manufacturing and boat repair industries.

When: May 1 - June 28, 2006 (M and W evening 6 - 9 pm).

Introduction to Yacht Joinery The focus of this course is on acquiring the skills necessary to gain entry level employment in the carpentry shop of a boat manufacturer or boat yard. The entry level employee can identify lumber and plywood types, efficiently mill rough lumber to required dimensions from a bill of materials and perform basic wood joints to close tolerances. The safe and proper use of stationary woodworking machinery, portable power tools and hand woodworking tools are stressed.

Yacht Joinery -This course follows Introduction to Yacht Joinery. More advanced joinery projects are covered in this course. The main class project is the construction of a cabinet that would be typically found in a yacht. The cabinet has radiused corner posts, a solid wood face frame, plywood side panels, plastic laminate top, sea rails, a raised panel door and a dovetailed drawer. Light weight "honey-comb" core cabinetry is also introduced.

When: 2/6/06 thru 4/12/06. Monday and Wednesday 6-9 PM

Costs: Registration Fee and Insurance $61.25, Material Fee $60.00, Blueprint Text, Olivo Special Edition is available at bookstore for $32.85. Total Cost - $154.10.
